Full Moon at the Grand Canyon
North Rim Photography Workshop ~ August 14th to 17th, 2019
This workshop is scheduled to coincide with the full moon at the Grand Canyon. Weather permitting there will be an opportunity to capture the full moon rising over the canyon as the sun sets, and to capture the full moon setting as the sun rises. This workshop takes place during the monsoon season, which is a great time to capture the canyon with stormy skies and dramatic light.
The size of this workshop is being limited to no more than 7 participants to ensure that everyone receives one-on-one instruction.
The Schedule
Specific details will be provided upon completion of your registration. The itinerary will be set just prior to the beginning of the workshop and will be fluid so that we can adapt to changes in weather conditions, thus allowing us to capture the best moments. Plan on early mornings and late evenings as we will be starting well before sunrise and shooting until after sunset. The schedule will allow for downtime during our mid-day rest periods.
Weather
From mid-July through mid-September the Grand Canyon and most of the American Southwest sees a major shift in the weather patterns with the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon. This period typically has afternoon thunderstorms with brief periods of heavy rain, which can be great for photography. The high temperature can be in the 80s (27-32°C), with early morning temperatures occasionally dipping into the 40s (4-9°C).
Travel Information
For this workshop, we recommend flying into and out of Las Vegas McCarran International Airport as it is most centrally located to the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. It is a 4.5-hour drive from the airport to the North Rim.
Lodging
This workshop includes single-occupancy lodging in Frontier Cabins at the Grand Canyon Lodge on the North Rim for all 3 nights.
Meals and Transportation
Breakfast is included. Transportation and National Park entrance fees are not provided. We will caravan and/or carpool to our destinations as much as possible. Due to limited parking, you are encouraged to share rides with your fellow workshop participants.

“I just wanted to drop you a quick ‘thank you’ in providing me with such an awesome workshop! It’s rare to find someone with your talents that also has the ability to communicate effectively and provide an atmosphere that is inspiring to learn within.”
“Early mornings and late nights!!! You keep it moving during your workshops, but it all is worth it at the end… Great pictures, great friend and overall just an amazing experience!! I recommend it highly!!! Thanks again!!”
“I’ve just completed my third Grand Canyon workshop with Adam, and they just keep getting better. He’s been very sensitive to my skill level each time and offers just the kind of advice I’m ready for.”
“I signed up for my first workshop with Adam with a love of photography, but as a novice of “real” camera equipment and no experience. Somehow I convinced Adam to take me on, and he promised to help me learn to use the gear. His love and knowledge of photography as well as the Grand Canyon are unmatched!”
“Grand Canyon photography workshop was awesome! The insight to the canyon Adam shared was so informative and the instruction concise. So helpful in getting you comfortable with all aspects of shooting landscape photography. Would highly recommend his workshops to anyone working on improving their landscape photography.”
