The Cover of National Geographic Traveler Magazine

November 29, 2019

As many of my readers have probably figured out, Grand Canyon is a special place for me. I've been spending years now exploring the canyon from the rim to the river. I photograph the canyon because I love it, it's really as simple as that. The fact that folks like to hang my work on their walls, or print it in books and magazines is just a nice perk.

The December 2019/January 2020 issue of National Geographic Traveler magazine with my photo of Grand Canyon and the Colorado River on the cover.

All that said, I have to admit that it was pretty cool when National Geographic Traveler magazine reached out to me earlier this year and expressed an interest in using my work in the magazine. It was even more cool when I got an email only a couple days after I came off my most recent raft trip on the the Colorado River to inquire about putting on of my photos of Grand Canyon on the cover.

I'm so thankful that my work can be used to educate folks about Grand Canyon and what makes it so special. I've been blessed to have my work on the cover of the May issue of Arizona Highways magazine, and it's also on the cover of the new book, 100 Views ~ Grand Canyon National Park, celebrating the park's centennial. And now I'm just as thankful that my work can be seen on the cover of the December / January issue of National Geographic Traveler magazine. And, yes, it's very cool to see the photo with the iconic yellow border around it.
