Arizona Highways 150 Years of Running the River

May 1, 2019

The May 2019 issue of Arizona Highways is out and I can't hide it, I'm pretty excited about this. My work is on both the cover and back cover of the magazine!!! In addition to the covers, my work was also used for the table of contents page, and five more images in a portfolio within the magazine.

Arizona Highways May 2019 issue celebrating 150 years of running the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon.

This issue celebrates 150 years of running the Colorado River, and it includes an essay by Craig Childs, a story and photos by Barry Goldwater (yes, the senator), and an article by Brad Dimock with photos by Rudi Petschek.

I've been photographing the canyon for a bit over 10 years now, and while photography is often a solitary endeavor, I feel it's important to acknowledge those that have contributed to my work and helped me in getting the shot, especially those that I have shared the river experience with. These folks include David L Edwards, Joe Bennion, my wife Sally, Amy Martin, Mark Bennion, Brian Yadon, Patrick Clark, Martha Clark (now Martha Stewart), Thad Stewart, and Pat Brown. A special thanks to Catherine Zuzii Ryan who was kind enough to allow me to photograph her on the boats.

Lastly, a big thanks to the team at Arizona Highways. I still can't believe I get to contribute to this incredible magazine.
