Rafting the Colorado River

A Photographic Journey thru the Grand Canyon

Join us for an epic photography experience with Adam Schallau in the Grand Canyon. This trip is designed with photography in mind. We will be visiting and photographing many of the most majestic locations in the canyon, and at the best time of day. We will visit and photograph waterfalls, hidden side canyons, the turquoise waters of the Little Colorado River, and we take in the grandeur of it all.

Adam has floated the length of the Colorado River thru the Grand Canyon numerous times on photography expeditions and also on a National Park Service trip. For this trip, he has partnered with Tour West who is an official concessionaire for the National Park Service. All of our river guides are professional boatman with a passion for the Grand Canyon. This is an oar-powered trip meaning there are no motors thus preserving the tranquility of the experience. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the majesty of the Grand Canyon.

Travel Information

For this river trip, we recommend flying into either Sky Harbour International Airport (KPHX) in Phoenix, or Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (KFLG). It is typically a 2.5-hour drive from the Phoenix airport to Flagstaff.

What a great time of year to be in the canyon. While the canyon is known for being incredibly hot during the peak of the summer months, our fall trip has far cooler temperatures with highs on most days in the upper 80s (27-32°C)and occasionally in the low 90s. Overnight lows are typically in the 50s and can dip into the 40s (4-9°C).

The trip itinerary is available in the Trip Information Packet PDF.

“I signed up for my first workshop with Adam with a love of photography, but as a novice of “real” camera equipment and no experience. Somehow I convinced Adam to take me on, and he promised to help me learn to use the gear. His love and knowledge of photography as well as the Grand Canyon are unmatched!”

Holly DeanHolly Dean, Iowa

“Grand Canyon photography workshop was awesome! The insight to the canyon Adam shared was so informative and the instruction concise. So helpful in getting you comfortable with all aspects of shooting landscape photography. Would highly recommend his workshops to anyone working on improving their landscape photography.”
